My take on the storyline... by dire_lobo2001-10-10 10:30:07
Way off base by Eric 2001-10-10 11:29:10
You are looking way to far into this and way off base from the point! From your above statement I can tell that you have never worked in a call center or have taken one tech support call. In my experience as working as a tech support rep and then a manager at a call center, I would say %80 of the people that I have talked to are actually that dreadful, unpleasant, and totally clueless.

Their attitude is exactly how the strip depicts. “I-Make-More-Money-Than-You-So-Fix-This.” Not only that there are some people who call every day. These people littlery will call you every day either to complain, to get something fixed, or just to talk. And there is no way to escape these people. For example why Greg left as shown in the previous cartoon strip.

So IMHO Greg leaving is a metaphor for escaping the on-slot of clueless/mean-callers that keeps the phones ringing. ( IRL you have bills to pay and can not leave even if you wanted to) And Greg winding up at the Veterans club is yet another metaphor. To compare exactly how bad it is at these call centers. Again IMHO the cartoon strips are both very witty and humorous. And to understand them you will have to work or worked as tech support. And even a taste of customer service will not hurt either.
