Real Life Comparison by kriek 2001-10-10 09:50:26
I look today at this story line and the comments set before me. One thing stands out amongst all the banter, everyone is talking of the comparison Illiad has created. hdhale so kindly pointed out all the things the vets have seen and done.

Yes those things are real and granted that Tech Support nor Postal workers see that type of violence or pain (Except on TV), but in the end it all leads to stress and mental anguish. As our society has shown several times this stress effects us all, how many times has an everyday citizen just snapped and gone into work and blown away a bunch of people, they weren't all vets, they didn't all see that violence.

They just snapped one day. So I think there is a great comparison to look at in one aspect, but lets always remember, not everyone reacts the same to all situations.

Also keep that he is not making fun of the vets, Illiad is simply putting their pain into a perspective that many of us can understand and yet at the same time show us how petty we can all be at times because there are people in this world with far worse problems than we have.

Think about it! was your kid spilling that juice that big a deal? Was it really the end of the world when your wife or girlfriend left you? It isn't really after all, actually it's rather petty in the big picture!
