An e-mail that just popped in:
I've enjoyed your comic everyday for years, but to be frank, I don't like the current thread with Greg considering himself a "veteran". Our countries' veterans put their lives on the line to protect our lives and our freedoms, as well as the lives and freedoms of people around the world. They've sacrificed time, money, experience, friends, and sometimes even themselves for us.
I keep reading many comics even when they're not funny. Every comic has a time like that. Unfortunately, this time with User Friendly is rapidly pushing me past that point and to the "stop reading completely" stage.
Thanks for hearing me out

My reply:
Thanks for voicing your thoughts on this.
I think it bears repeating that I hold servicemen and women in the highest regard. The current storyline (which does continue for another couple of days) isn't meant to diminish the contributions of those who have fought, but rather to show exactly how absurd Greg's standpoint is.
Hopefully you'll see it for what I meant it to be, as opposed to what it might be mistaken for. |
