...it's hard to explain why it will take so much longer. Somebody who has no clue might be deceived by techno babble(tm). To someone who has a clue you can explain in terms they understand. But if the user has only some vague ideas (and thinks those are the Truth(tm)) it gets harder to justify the extra time needed.
