Iff [if and only if, for the symbolic logically challenged] you setup two partitions and you are willing to dual-boot then you can;
  • Create four primary partitions
    • two small ones [~15MB each] (/dev/hda1 and /dev/hda2)
      • one becomes /boot for RH and the other is /boot for Caldera
    • one swapper [512MG] (/dev/hda3)
    • one big one (remainder of disk)
      • Create two extended partitions
  • Install RH on one of the extended partitions
    • make sure that you write the lilo image on the MBR.
    • Make sure that it boots
    • reboot to be sure
    • Now save your /etc/lilo.conf to the RH /boot
  • Install Caldera on the other partition
    • Again, write the lilo image to the MBR
    • Make sure that it boots
    • reboot to be sure
    • Now save your /etc/lilo.conf to the Caldera /boot
  • Merge the two lilo.conf files.
    • Call one image RedHat and the other Caldera. You can RTFM the details in the Lilo dox.
    • Each /etc/fstab must also be adjusted.
You need at least 6.5GB of DASD to do this as each distro eats about 3GB each. You can probably figure the rest out from here. Any more than this and it becomes a HOW-TO. I have to get back to a CVSWEB install.
