and if they can't be readily explained to me in words, without resorting to higher mathematics, I don't want to know. :)

Come to think of it, that's a big problem of mine in calculus and such. If you explain something to me using primarily mathematical formulae, it goes whooosh right over my head. Explain it in words, and I'll pick up the idea pretty quick, in most cases.
