as to why i refuse to sit in the front-line trenches anymore - a good many of the users i dealt with were in fact clueless - not stupid mind you - we're talking about MD's and it takes some gray matter to get those initials after your name - but that does not mean you are a technologist - however they can be taught - i sat down with a Pharmacist one day - who kept saying he was "stupid about computers" and taught him how to use FTP from a VMS command-line to download files from a remote server and then extract them - after that - he was on his own - but he claimed to know what he needed to do with the files after that point. I did simplify the process for him by automating the whole procedure - took maybe 100 lines or less of DCL command procedure to do it too (including all the comment code)
