it's definately annoying. The more annoying thing is that they also seem to be under the impression that "No I don't need help"=="No I'm not buying anything, I only came in to waste everyone's time". Therefore, when you have located what you went in for, trying to find a sales "assistant" can be just as hard as getting rid of them in the first place.
