NFS for Windows? WAN Filesharing by myke 2006-11-19 12:55:59
K - looking for a bit of help here.
Basically - I'm trying to centralize a bunch of files (read: mp3s) from my friend's PCs on to my Linux router/firewall/everything (AND THE KITCHEN SINK) box. I've used TrueGrid NFS to export my filesystems locally before (still do), but I can't seem to secure it so it's not wideopen over the 'net... and when I do, *I* can't even connect. So - a week straight of messing with it, I think I'm ready to try another NFS server for Windows, but there doesn't seem to be any other free ones out there! At this point, my requirements are thus:
  • Freeware
  • Multiplatform (ie share from Windows to unix)
  • WAN filesharing (inet)
  • (And preferably able to thru a firewall if a port is setup for it)
  • must be mountable on a Linux filesystem
  • secured on an IP by IP basis. (not sensitive data, doesn't require encryption)

Now, I don't need to use NFS, I just figured it'd be pretty easy... sortof.
If anyone knows any sort of free solution out there, please let me know!
