Me, I think maybe I'll keep my Volvo... by ChicoScience 2001-09-13 14:05:27
I was planning on buying a new BMW... But maybe it ain't such a bad idea to drive my old Volvo wagon.. 17 years old with 312k miles (most of them mine). They're pretty indestructible... The reason why I have one was my brother had one and was T-boned by a school bus. There was yellow paint from the school bus on the *roof* of the wagon. There was a passenger in the front passenger seat where the bus struck. The bus had to be towed, the driver went to the hospital. The interior of the volvo was unscathed/dented/invaded... Both my brother and the passenger suffered *no* injuries... the volvo drove away and needed a new door and the roof tapped out.

when I finally saved enough money to buy my own car, my parents mandated a volvo.. a wagon was the best utility vehicle for hauling my stuff to and from college. Bought it one summer with my meager savings and driven it ever since. all the utility of an SUV (trust me, this thing handles the snow better than most SUVs out there), plenty of cargo capacity (again, more so than many SUVs on the market), good gas mileage, dirt cheap, reliable... and old skool =). Never rolled one over either =).

Ciao, C.Sc.
