Understand that only a short 50 years ago, we were able to justify killing total strangers who lived in our communities. We were able to hang total strangers and their families and call it a party. Why? Because they had a different skin color than us. Because they worked for less wages than us. Because they looked at our women in the wrong way. Because they were different.
It is not difficult to sew seeds of hate. Don't believe me? Walk around and start sking people what they think of the people from Afganistan. Raise fortune, bring all those who hate Afganies to your secret base, tell them they will live in heaven if they do your bidding, buy them plane tickets to Afganistan, give them money to set up terrorist cells, and coordinate attacks through the internet. Yes even you can be Osama bin Laden in these few short steps.
Most of us have grown more enlightened, but there are still people who are very easily swayed by what they see on the news, and from what they hear from their peers, and are very willing to act on their fellings without thinking about the effects. They are the ones being used by people like Osama bin Laden. Those who have no rational for their hatred for the United Stated. They believe that the United States is the cause of all their problems, and so it is the United States who must be attacked. It's government, it's millitary, it's populace. In ordinary circumstances all they could do is grit, fume, and express their anger on the dirt on the ground. But given someone who has money, who believes the same thing, and who is willing to spend their money for their belief, Osama bin Laden is able to let these people act on their anger and hatred.
