I read this strip faithfully, though I don't comment often.
I also want to thank you, Illiad, from the bottom of my heart, for the images you gave us both yesterday and today. Ordinarily I wouldn't exactly be grateful for a comic strip that brought tears to my eyes and choked up my throat, two days in a row, but the images you've given to us are so incredibly beautiful, and poingnant...they touch upon what almost every one of us who has heard of this tragedy is feeling within their hearts. Keep up the great work, Illiad. I look forward more than ever to seeing tomorrow's strip. At least I'll be one of the lucky ones able to be there for it, unlike those souls in New York and Washington.
I can't speak for the rest of America, but I know that I, for one, appreciate the expressions of sympathy that have been pouring in from across the globe. As has been said many times, it was not just America who was attacked, it was the entire peace- and freedom-loving world. Especially at the WTC. The reverberations of that attack are being felt all over the world. It was not just Americans who perished when the twin towers fell. I was watching C-SPAN last night, and they were simulcasting the BBC morning show "Breakfast". They said that there were several hundred British workers who were working in the World Trade Center, who are among the missing. They also said that the Queen had decided to honor those who had fallen in the attacks in the US by playing the US national anthem at the changing of the guard for the first time. The whole world has been touched by this tragedy, and while life will go on... nothing will ever be quite the same. |
