I think short lines are easier to read.
When I get to the end of a very long line and then have to scan to the left to pick up the next line I sometimes
get lost and have trouble distinguishing WHICH line IS the next line.

I also think proper use of whitespace is very important
when writing code. Compilers don't care, but debugging
is done mostly with my own 2 human eyes, which can spot
errors much faster when I use a consistent style with
lots of whitespace and indents.
