I can understand why he did it, and even the connotation the silo brought. I can see how it was connected, if only somewhat, and the thought it brings, but it wasn't about destruction (the story) nor the nuclear energy released in a bomb, but the attraction that geeks have for nuclear waste and the idea of living in missile silo that has been *decommissioned*, i.e. not in use, was rather cool. I think when Illiad mentinoed forthright at the beginning that it was decommissioned from housing something of mass destruction to just housing a bunch of geeks and an ISP really shows the transformation. Negative connotation or not, it was a great story.
