The Newfoundland Steel Workers were responsible for building a large part of the twin towers. There is an interview somewhere from "Canadian Magazine" in 1971 with one of hte Newfoundland steel workers. In the article it is said that the towers were engineered and built to withstand a direct impact of a Boeing 707 - the largest plane ofthe day. There is also a quote

                             "When you're working in the clouds at the top and you hear a
                              plane, you'd swear it was going to fly into you."
