have shown that a number of known bin Laden supporters took flight lessons in Florida, among other places, and that they had (with other persons affiliated with other terrorist cells) purchased tickets for the flights in question. They have been traced to the planes.
The Taliban, and the US govt both are saying that this is an extraordinary event for a terrorist undertaking, and the US and their terrorist specialists are saying only bin Laden had the resources to carry it off, while the Taliban claims it is too much for even bin Laden to have accomplished alone. (They say it is a US group, or maybe some other government, anyone but their local 'hero'.)

The actions required planning for a year or more in advance, most news sources are reporting. We have some tracing yet to do.
There are currently over 4,000 FBI agents assigned to this case.

The plan also follows the same style of attacks bin Laden has attempted, or completed before, only on a much larger, and more tragic scale.
Bin Laden has also said that he wants to strike in the US, that he does not differentiate between civilians and military targets.
He congratulated the cells responsible for this action, even though he claims no responsibility for it himself. Terrorism is an inherently cowardly idea. Who would expect a coward to tell the truth?
Even before finding the evidence, international expert were saying they were 95 - 99.5% sure it was bin Laden's organization.
The US won't accuse until they are certain, rest assured.
But when we ARE certain, we WILL have the persons / groups responsible for planning this.

The only way Afghanistan will suffer civilian losses is if they refuse to assist us if we determine that it is, in fact, Osama bin Laden that we want. They have hampered our efforts in the past, for his organization's other crimes. They will not be allowed to obstruct justice this time.
