But they're not idiots by a long shot.

I'm sure Bush's security advisors know damn well that the kind of people who will happily send their own people off to die and take thousands of innocent people with them would be only too thrilled to have dead civilians on "their side" as an excuse to murder faster, and will do their best to minimize that.

Unfortunately, very likely some civilians will die in a military response -- as they do in any sizeable military action -- but they will not be the deliberate targets. They'll be an unfortunate few who were too close to the wrong people -- mass murderers and those who support them -- and I will mourn their loss as much as I do the innocent people who died Tuesday for the crime of living in the wrong country. Nobody should be dying over this crap.
