How about prison for life if we catch people who can be proved to be involved? Death is an easy way out. Timmy the bomb bastard got a 2 minute quick death while innocent people dieing of cancer don't get the option. In some ways it's a reward, at least compared to other possible punishments. Especially when innocent people must take the slow painful way out. (Assisted suicide can get the assistant in big trouble.)
