I can't make myself swallow bin laden on a platter right now.
If someone was incredibly daring in Isreal... willing to risk it all on one long shot...
this could have been pulled off... I'm not saying I believe they did... but that it's a very viable possibility. They have means. Mossad could pull this off in their sleep. They have motive... International community turns against arab nations... possibly turns them into pile of rubble or US occupied territory.... A few minutes of footage of people dancing in the streets and passing out candy will pretty much cinch the parties-to-blame in most US minds... and if the US found out after the missles were launched... what would happen? it would be covered up, probably... how could the any nation ever admit a mistake like that? So, if we're picking a country, rather than one of the "usual suspect" terrorist groups... well, it's remote, but the possibility is real.
Nor do I think Russia would be opposed to smacking down the US a little, and at the same time provoking the removal of Afghanistan from the world map.
Then there's china... one hell of a diversionary tactic... but I think that's less likely as it's been 18 or so hours and the US has yet to come under attack from them.
And, of course, to spare the "evil US government" conspiracy theorists out there... yes, the US could have done it as well, as an excuse to do ... whatever will end up happening.
Myself, though, I'm just kinda hoping to wake up... hit UF... see a tech support joke dated september 11 without any mention of stef, with comments just talking about the strip... and take a couple of asprin to shake off the nightmare.
