| you took the time to read some of my other posts today before passing judgement on me. Oh, and I'd also like to thank you for taking one thing in one of the posts you DID read and using it completely out of context. I just love when people do that. And at no point did I say I wished a lot of people would be murderously ripped apart. But hey, it's really okay by me when people put words in my mouth, too. Because you obviously know what I'm thinking even better than me. You're right, though, your methods of complete nonviolence will fix everything, stop future outbreaks of terrorism, and bring back the dead. You're missing my point. I think it's a goddamn shame what happened, and I do feel immeasurable sorrow for the families of the victims. However, as I live IN America, I want steps taken to ensure that this will not happen again tomorrow, next week, next month, or ever. While at the same time I'm very sad about what happened, I'm scared shitless that it could happen again. But I don't suppose you'd understand that, since you have all this time to sit facelessly behing a computer screen flaming me just because my opinion on how the matter should be handled differs from yours. If you're really this closed-minded, I'd like it a whole lot if you DIDN'T visit my country. We've got enough people like you here already. On a final note, if you'd bothered to read my other posts on the board, you'd see that I am all for a thorough investigation so that we know who's behind this, and thusly, who to go after. Where we seem to differ most greatly is what should be done once we've caught whoever responsible. You're calling for a slap on the wrist, essentially, out of this compassion bullshit that we've tried for the past ten years that's done nothing but get more people killed. I don't know about you, but I don't particularly ENJOY watching the largest city in my country go up in smoke. I never want to see this happen again - anywhere, ideally, but I'm concerned first with me and mine.
One last note, my pay per view comment was just that: a comment. Someone actually tried it with McVeigh's execution, but our society hasn't sunk so far as you might think. Nobody wanted to see it, and I quite seriously doubt they would here, either. My whole point is that America has to send a message to the world that we will not take this and that it will not happen again. Your solution simply will not do that. |
