| Or how much it hurt to read your letter to your friend. It's things like this that put such a personal touch on what's so for (for me) been a national issue. Ten thousand died today, but they were all nameless, faceless, like extras in a movie - then something like this comes along and it all comes back. I never knew your friend, but it's still enough to move anyone to tears, thinking about it in those terms. You lost a friend, someone else lost a husband, someone else lost a daughter...and it's very important not to forget that THAT is the real tragedy here, not the loss of some silly buildings. Buildings crumble, but can be rebuilt. Countless lives will forever be emptier, and for what? It doesn't matter. |
