We haven't had an "Us vs Them" attitude; the world just expects us to be a doormat, giving to other peoples the rewards of our labors and our predecessor's labors, and when we aren't fully compliant, then we're a pack of bastards. I bitched when we bombed Libya; I worried when we bombed Baghdad, and I screamed and yelled and wrote letters to the editor when we sent troops into Serbia.
if the terrorists want their homes, families and sacred places to be safe and intact, they should have left us alone, no matter what we did. We run the world, not them.
