Contrary to many opinions, they are not the same. bin Ladan is relatively new while Hamas has been around since the '60's. Hamas is an avowed terrorist org with a large track record of mounting successful terrorist campaigns. They've used a variety of "fronts" like DPLF, PLO, etc. They are certainly not strictly political. They've crossed the line many times.
