Speaking for myself, I do not regard any one race or ethnicity of individuals responsible for this attack.
I don't know who is responsible for this attack, but I have always comdemmed the works and actions of terrorists, no matter if they are Americans, Islamic fundmentalists, Basques, Japanese, Russians, South Africans, Irish, English, etc.
The act of terrorism is a burden that most countries have had to burden. However, we in the USA have not been faced with a massive organized and funded terrorist network that is able to strike whenever and whereever they deem to. Even our allies have spoke about this in the recent past.
Further, an act of terrorism is a rationalized action, reached through the same thought processes that guide us through choosing which movie to see and what to buy in the grocery store. Faced with that, the only response can be one of retaliation. Anything else and we slip back into the appeasement behavior that lead to the dark days of World War Two.
However, should we strike at a nation simply because they harbor these terrorists? No. If we simply strike at a nation, bombing its innocent citizens along with those responsible, are we any better than those who committed this act? Again, I say no.
Although I have advocated strikes at those responsible, I has sickened by those who recommended the use of nuclear weapons. the consequences of that action would too terrible and far-reaching to comtemplate.
With that being said, I humbly wait for any responses and thank Iilad and UF for providing this forum. |
