| It isn't the crumbling of the buildings, it's the injury and loss of life that are tragic. From a demolition perspective, the buildings came down beautifully. They *could* have toppled--then we would have been looking at a much higher death toll. Now, I'm not trying to dismiss the casualties; I'm simply trying to point out that the difference between the ugliness and the spectacle is the human factor. If we didn't know better, the footage could be a demonstration of good architectural design. Unfortunately, the truth is that it demonstrates a vehicle for death and injury, and a lot of it. For that, there are no words sufficient to convey the magnitude of the loss. Baski |
