I've just recently come back from the Middle East. There is a famous singer there that has a song (in Arabic) that says something to the effect of "Screw America, I hate Israel." One of the biggest questions that I got when overseas (I was there for a month) was "Why does America love Israel?" I was then usually subjected to a long exposition on why Israel is such a bad country.
Not that they hated Americans where I was. They loved our tourism (money) and wanted to know about our culture. But they really do hate Jews in general and want America to stop funding Israel, which has, incidentally, never taken land except as a buffer during military actions which they did not initially start.
Arabs are some of the nicest people I know. But it is eerie to be in the Medeteranian Sea with a nine year old yelling "This is my country, not yours. Get out! This is my country!" (I spoke a little Aribic to him, and he was much happier after that.)
Still, there is definitly some kind of a problem here.
"And they were all crying, 'Peace! Peace!'".
