I was just expressing the opinion that humans are, by nature, primarily concerned with their own survival. Heroism isn't anything natural.

If this has been your life experience to date, then I would suggest that you relocate immediately to a different part of the globe - yours doesn't sound too healthy. <g>

You say "humans are, by nature, primarily concerned with their own survival." That's not a specifically human trait; that's an animal trait. It has been my experience that one of the few times humans demonstrate moral elevation above animals is when they do demonstrate concern for others above self.

Oh, I see what you mean. The civilians being killed by your country aren't US citizens, so that's all right.

I'll assume this was simply a childish goad and let it pass - but would you mind clarifying exactly to which "civilians being killed by [my] country" you're referring? Methinks you're confusing potential with actual.
