Why utopias never work by JPaganel 2001-09-11 11:43:58
Any number of solutions to the world's problems have been offered. None of them worked. Communism, anarchy and other theories stayed just that - theories. I know that many people will get their bristle up at the mention of communism, but you have to remember that the Russian version of it was actually an oligarchy(am I saying this right?).

In order for these things to work, fundamental ways of thinking of huge masses of people have to be changed. That turned out to be impossible. You can get a few individuals to go along with you, but en masse people are stubborn, greedy, revengeful and stupid. That is basic human nature.

Before anyone takes offense and says "I'm not like that!", please note that I am talking about masses, not individuals. Some of the most reasonable, clear-headed people can become murdering bastards when part of a mob.

                  I suspect it's a built-in aspect of human nature. by bugarup2001-09-11 13:14:06
