| might answer with that. Yes, war will lead to more death, destruction, and the like. But with war comes a heightened sense of preparedness, and will lead to fewer civilian deaths, as opposed to further terrorist attacks which will inevitably kill more people, maybe someone you know. Maybe me. There is never an excuse for murdering civilians. Certainly the US has been responsible for many, herself, and even then it was just as atrocious. As I also said, my answer was based very much on emotion and not so much on reason. Would you not be just as outraged had this happened in Berlin? Regarding what I think is the root of the terrorism: religion, what else? More specifially, the Islamic policy of non-acceptance of other religions. I am not saying they should not have the right to practice their religion, but I most assuredly do not think they have the right to practice it in this way. Their holy war on...well, everything was damned to lead to an even uglier war, and we've known this for years. And I can assure you, you do NOT want to hear what I would do against the root of it. It's quite extreme, and would likely get me flamed into oblivion. I, too, am concerned about my safety and that of my friends and family. Hence my possibly severe response - and can you think of any other answer besides war that's going to get any results? You can make all the speeches you want, you can cut off trade to as many countries as you see fit, and you can take as many safety precautions as you please, but it's not going to do a damned bit of good because you're not dealing with a country. You're dealing with a very advanced terrorist group who will go largely unaffected by this. I agree that an immediate mobilization to the Middle East is not a realistic nor intelligent course of action. We must find out who is behind this, and draw them out. Someone knows who did this and where they are. Sadly, more violence may be the only way to find out. Because I can assure you that the US will not let this go. |
