Linux challenge! (be creative) by cian2001-07-20 03:54:33
Older slackware... by shminux 2001-07-20 10:02:36
I remember installing Slackware Linux on a system like that back in 1993, with X and all, with 1/2 of the 250MB drive taken by Windows 3.1, dual boot.

None of the new mainstream installations would do the trick, though. I tried it again on the same machine a couple of months ago, with RH, Mandrake, Corel and Caldera, and each of the fat bastards said the system does not satisfy minimum reqs.

I did run a floppy-based Coyote Linux on it, though, as a gateway/firewall for my home network.
