"Klaatu Barata Nikto" is the mysterious phrase which must be uttered to Gort, the powerful enforcement robot, to prevent him from destroying the Earth after Klaatu -- the alien emmissary who had been going by the undercover name "John Carpenter" -- is shot and killed by the US military in the groundbreaking 1950's science-fiction film "The Day the Earth Stood Still".

"Evil Dead" borrowed the phrase tongue planted firmly in cheek.
