Last friday I wrote an exam in which I had to syntethise NOT, OR, AND and a higher formula with NAND only. Not only (no pun intended) was it a pain and did twist my brain stronger thatn Prolog did, it also did look ridiculous (NAND, also called the Sheffer-function, is noted as an upwards-pointing arrow).
