Oh, cry, baby cry! My win311 machine started up faster than most PIII's (with windows95/98/nt/me/2000) do today. I long for the day when 32MB RAM meant that you could load everything into high memory with no fret.
Hell, it was prettier that dosshell, and worked with more hardware that OS/2.

Learn structure in BASIC, then take on the likes of C and assembler for what you really want to do. Control the math behind your electrons. None of this Java, VB, or (gasp) Perl. Sure, they have their advantages (scripting, ease, laze), but NOTHING out preforms a function in asembler, written for a single user enviroment. I'm just one person anyway.
p.s. To any claims of Dissociative(formaly multiple) Personality Disorder: only one is in control at any given time.
