| Personally, I use FreeBSD for most of my servers and OpenBSD for most of my firewalls. I don't use the GNU\Linux system very often, although I admit that it is a fine system. What I don't enjoy seeing, however, is people trying to shift the credit from the GNU Project solely into the hands of Linus Torvalds and the Linux kernel programming team. (They do this inadvertantly, by citing "Linux" as an entire operating system). Yes, the Linux kernel is a functional kernel. Should Linus take credit for the growth of the GNU\Linux system, though? No. Richard Stallman had a vision in 1984, and that vision resulted in the rise of the GNU\Linux operating system. Cmon people - give credit where credit is due. Without the GNU C Compiler, the GNU C library, and the GNU userland utilities, GNU\Linux would not function. |
