Question of the Day! by kickstart2001-07-04 00:01:42
  Answer from The Internet Oracle by artist1 2001-07-06 00:07:55
The Internet Oracle has pondered your question deeply.
Your question was:

> By now you've probably heard that Microsoft's breakup order has been overturned.
What would you make them do instead?

And in response, thus spake the Oracle:

} I sense a bit of hostility toward the Redmond beast so I will first allay
} your fears before I answer your question. Microsoft
} has at most a three year monoploy left as the popularity of Linux and the
} like continues to grow, cutting into Microsoft's
} market share until they will be forced to release Word for Linux just to
} keep some money coming in. This will, of course,
} fail as open source software will have emerged as the standard and "third
} party" applications like Word will be useless. At
} that time Microsoft's power to control the operating system will have ceased
} and there will be no more monopoly. However
} this will not be before Bill makes a buttload more money. Now that you feel
} better, I will answer your question. It appears
} you are looking for a suitable punishment, or perhaps retribution, to be
} imposed on the people who design and market this
} product but I'm afraid I cannot do anything to inflict any more pain on them
} that they are already receiving. You see, they
} already use Windows ME.
}
} You owe the Oracle a Linux partition on your hard drive and the latest
} Redhat binaries.
}
