I recall when a vendor was flaunting his symmetric multiprocessor. He mention 1,900 MIPS (okay this was about 10 years ago). I asked him for clarification... "Isn't MIPS _M_eaningless _I_nformation _P_rovided by _S_alesman?" Okay, it was a short demonstration.
