I don't even think we should be using our military for fighting. I personally think it would be much more effective to use political appeal dirrectly to the people to encourage them not to acnolage the enemy's power, thus completely eliminating any means by which the enemy can fight.
The enemy's "big lie" does not work on it's people if there is a better alternative that is equally reinforced.
I'm not saying we should avoid any military organizations. There are other functions for those such as stopping riots, arresting terrorists, "special ops", intellegence, and defensive weapondry.
The US Military has finally aknoladge that. We drop bombs on weapons plants killing thousands of civilians when we could simply nullify them with chemicals that react with the core components, and destroy them dirrectly. We could even disable factories for months with EMP bombs (Which the US Military has officially declared a terrorist tool, and has refused to develop, a rediculous uneducated decision) which outside their small explosive range about the size of a large fireworks rocket, only effect humans as much as a couple MRI scans, but can destroy any electronic device withen a 50 mile radius and radio devices over a hundred miles away. This weapon is far more effective against weapons factories, as explosives are easy to come by in developing nations, but electronics are very scarce, not to mention expensive. If properly tuned to the resonant frequency of detonation device (with information from intellegence) such weapons could easily be used to set off their own bombs, thus making them at fault, and making there be no way that they could lie and say we were targeting their civilians (as it was their bombs that exploded).
As for a missile defense system, we should have one, but no one country should control it. It really should be run by the UN, not a military. I doubt any country would object to a missle defense system if we let them help and aren't the only ones with access. It just doesn't make sense to have it to ourselves, when no matter which country gets nuked, we all get hit with the fallout. It's just another example of stupid patriotism. |
