| I especially like the one about the politicians having an easy method of disposing of people, although I doubt removing the death penalty would slow those people down in the least.
And I agree that vengeance is also a poor reason. Emotionally distraught people are seldom the ones you would want to trust with a rational decision.
McVeigh stated that he was all for the idea of death. One life in exchange for 160+ is a good exchange in 'war', not to mention the martyr aspect he hoped to achieve.
I think the rules should be different for the capital punishment cases. Absolute proof, not just 'beyond a reasonable doubt'. |
