Question of the Day! by kickstart2001-06-11 00:01:00
Science fiction novel by Logika 2001-06-11 15:25:48
I don't have a working title but would probably write a military science-fiction novel ala Pournelle, Heinlein or Dickson, but with some of my projections of proper use of information systems in warfare and space/military operations. One "gimmick" I've been planning on exploring since 1987 is the use of varied and personalized user interfaces. Think about ST:TNG if all the displays had personal desktops or themes. Extend that to organisms with different biological structures conflicting with the general military/operational need to standardize things.

The general plotline I was using in 1987 involved testing a new interstellar drive and turning that test into an intergalactic (just the Lesser Magellanic Cloud) journey home. Of course, I have to shelve that concept now that Star Drek: V'ger has dumped all over the "long journey home" story. Thank you, Brick Vermin and Banned Braggart! </tongueInCheek>
