I plotted one out years ago but never got to writing it, actually. It was just around the 30th anniverary or the assassination, and the Stone movie had just come out, so there were a lot of people sounding off with their own BS (belief systems, that is :-) ) about it.
My story was simple: in 1986, a young TV journalist, looking to get out from under her own good looks, gets an offer from the Secret Service to interview a former president in preparation for his memoirs. While she realized that it was the opportunity of a lifetime - she had wanted to do investigative reporting, but instead she had been cast as the 'weather girl' on a local news channel - she found it suspicious that they would go out of their way to find such an obscure reporter for such an important job.
She was even more puzzled when they refused to let her know which former president she is to work with. They take her to a remote ranch in Montana...
Needless to say, its Jack, quite definitely alive (though presently dying of cancer). He explains to her what really happened, not just about the 'assassination' (and why he wasn't in Dallas at all that day) but also about his relationship with a Nazi spy in the early part of WWII (he was feeding her disinformation for Naval Int.); why he married Jaquelyn Bouvier; what really happened to Marilyn Monroe (and her connection to a certain famous SF author); the private wars between Old Joe, J.E. Hoover, Aristotle Onassis, and Howard Hughes; who really was behind the slayings Malcolm X, MLK Jr. and RFK; and what happened at Chappaquick, and why. Along the way she finds out that the real reason she was chosen was that the horny old bastard just happened to like her looks...
The goal was not only to turn every conspiracy theory out there on its head, but also to paint the 'martyred' Kennedys and other famous leaders of the era as ruthless Machiavellian schemers who made the Borgias look like saints. If I ever do write it, it should be hilarious. I hope. |
