| Try pressing Ctrl-Alt-- (that is, the minus key on the numerical keypad). You should be able to switch resolutions with that (go the other way with Ctrl-Alt-+, also the numerical keypad plus).
If that works, and you want to change your default resolution permanently, and you can't do it through the RedHat configuration tool, you can edit the X configuration file. Depending on the version you are using, you can find it in /etc/XF86Config (3.3.x) or /etc/X11/XF86Config (4.0.x). Find the "Screen" section, find the colordepth you are using, and put you favourite resolution at the beginning of the list of modes.
That should do the trick, but I'm not using RedHat myself and so I don't know for sure. If switching with the key combinations doesn't work, there's still a solution but it involves a bit more editing in the config file. Oh, and it's not your card, I have a Viper 550 and it works fine, so should the 770. Anyway, feel free to mail me.

Essentially, the problem was that what was supposed to be the top-left few inches of the screen was taking up the entire monitor, and the resolution wouldn't change. Someone suggested an incompatability with my video card. I have a Diamond Viper 770 Ultra. If anyone out there knows how to fix this, your help will be greatly appriciated. |
