'Melodies' was written in early '99, while yesterday's post was written very recently (within the last few monthes). Anyway, I'll post another tomorrow if no one minds. Until then, I'm off to see The Mummy Returns. :) TNGLives wrote: >ShadowRose wrote: >>Though I couldn't tell you what a couplet >>or quatrain was until after looking it up > >Unfortunately the assignment was a bit structured, and I do have a knack for remembering such terms, especially when I'm forced to follow them. > >>the verses themselves >>showed a great deal of skill. > >Well, thank you. Skill manipulating words, perhaps, but the emotion was already there and fairly coherent by this time, so not much creative effort in that mode was involved. It basically wrote itself, but the rhyming iambic pentameter was rather a pain to match. Your work seems a bit more authentic, for the sense to leave well enough alone, and not mangle it into some accepted style. > >>At least to me >>they did, but then again, I've never taken >>a single poetry course in my life. :) > >Hmm... perhaps a good thing, as we all certainly seem to enjoy your free verse. Should we ask for the date written on your poems, as I'm curious as to the more positive mood of this piece? I'm trying to discern whether you had cause to again be so joyous (as "loving again" might imply) or you've posted them out of order and become increasingly cynical, like myself. I sincerely hope the former.
