| Sweatshirts! And/or other types of long-sleeved shirts.
It seems that a lot of organizations I like sell t-shirts. That's nice, since I want to show my support and spread the word (my geek dress code is definitely d--), but my t-shirt closet runneth over, and what am I supposed to do when it gets cold? And in cases where sweatshirts are available, I rarely find much variety, which is a shame if I don't like the one or two designs that are available.
Colors other than white (for shirts).
For reasons similar to the above -- I see white t-shirts everywhere, and have been given many as thanks for volunteering for my favorite causes, but if I'm buying them I try to find other options. I want more variety in my wardrobe, and white's not even a very good color for me! :-)
All t-shirts (or other lightweight shirts), of any color (especially light colors), should be made of 100% thick cotton. UFies who disagree and want see-through shirts are welcome to post their opinions too, of course. ;-)
Books?
But it might be hard to please everyone. My tastes tend to run to whatever programming language I'm trying to learn at the moment (but I'm constantly asking people if X is a Really Good Book, since it's easy to waste money on superficial books covering the latest fad), and I'm always on the lookout for new stuff by authors who are highly respected (Knuth, for example), and lately I've become interested in AI and data mining techniques. But I sometimes buy geeky humor, biographies and historical accounts of the development of computers, the internet, etc. |
