| I can't agree with this.. With most users this is true but there are exceptions. Some users mail me almost every other day becoz they lost yet another file "by accident".
Every day several tapes are created in our backup system, 1 copy places off-site, one copy in a safe in our basement, two floors down.. It takes
from 30 mins - 1 hour to retrieve files from a backup.. (getting the key, getting the tapes, recovering the date, putting tapes back, putting key back)
That's a lot of (expensive) time for the company.. But some users don't realise this (even though i try explaining it) and start taking less and less care of their personal files..
A backup is for "emergency recoveries", and that shouldn't include "carelessness"..

What's the point of a tape backup if you refuse to utilize it for anything other than the server catching fire? |
