| While I agree that certification certainly has buzzword value, the core concepts of administering networks must be understood at a fundamental level. These principles are operating system independant and vendor independant. Of course, the ability to process relational pipes and knowledge of methods enabling one to disintermediate binary encoded function reliant profile integration procedures, are vital. Combined, these two factors will enable activation of relational network structures. On a higher level, what this means for wide area networks is that the network manager will be able to easily implement geometric complicators...such as triangulation over backbone links. Such triangulation when used with the right routing protocols can save up to 2/3 of usuable bandwidth on any given network, no matter of the size of the network itself. This is where the geometric complexity of the network design itself comes into play. Between these backbone links we tend to find smaller internetworked links such as peering and client connections. In order to effectively integrate these subnetworks, one needs to be able to proliferate pseudo complex trunks and in doing so, theorize functional links. On the client side, a bit bandwidth saver would be the ability organize open standards compliant cache engines....anyway, let me not rant on...there are many skills needed to be a good network admin...these are some of the key skills....good luck to all aspiring network admins. |
