Deejee and moderation by kickstart2001-02-09 08:45:56
RE: Deejee and moderation by Slayer 2001-02-09 16:21:10
First off, I agree with your moderation of Deejee (even if I didn't, it wouldn't matter). However, deleting the account may have been overkill. I understand that there was really no other way to deal with the problem, and to be honest, I can't think of a better way to handle that situation. My only concern is that perhaps Deejay was simply having an off day and isn't the huge jerk he appears to me. Maybe free speach is a topic he feels passionately about. Maybe he just doesn't understand the policies of this particular forum (after all he does have a point about moderation rules not being posted). Whatever the circumstances, I just believe a less permanent means of reprimand should be employed in the future. Just my 2 cents. kickstart wrote: >FYI for everyone, I spent a good while thinking about it, and have disabled the 'deejee' account. But not why you might think. He was not moderated for disagreeing with me - he can do that all he wants. He was moderated because he was trolling and spamming the board with complaints (same basic complaint in 7 different threads below). > >Here are the guidelines I follow for moderation: >1) Links to porn or illegal materials >2) Obvious trolls >3) Extreme language (when I was assigned this task I was told "Moderate what you wouldn't want your 14-year old sister to see") >4) Posts which, intentionally or without care, have a good chance of confusing the board or making it less enjoyable for the large majority of people. > >Moderation is a flexible thing though...I can't guarantee that someone won't post something objectionable that does not fall into the above. > >You can go ahead and flame me. I work a good chunk of my own free time to make sure this board runs smoothly. If you don't appreciate that, that's your choice. > >Kickstart
