1: This is more accurately "freedom of the press" and not "of speech". Speech is transitory. Press leaves a permenant record.
2: Freedom of the press is the right of a publisher to publish what he wants, not the right of an individual to get his words printed. A J Liebling (US journalist, 1904-19643) put it best: "Freedom of the press is guaranteed only to those who own one."
If you don't want to be censored, publish it yourself. That's the only guarantee the Constitution gives you. Thanks to modern technology, it isn't difficult or even very expensive to host your own web site and publish your own opinions all over it. |
