Point Taken. However, with a more active activation schedule for Guard and Reserve units, and adding into account that it would take a MAJOR conflict before we run into a complete manning shortfall, we can still effectively rule out a draft being reinstated for quite a while. Afterall, most armed deployments since Vietnam have had Guard and Reserve units sent out before active duty units. Even with the first combat units sent to the Persian Gulf being active duty, the first support units were Guard. Plus, according to manning stats, most Guard units are starting to eclipse active recruitment rates. |
