box today after I made the post. (*embarrassed grin*)   I'm not going to flame you for something I already admitted to. The DOS-based NC was better than the Windows one, with the exception of viewing graphic images. The DOS-based Volkov Commander is better in some ways than NC, because it supports LFN. The Windows-based "Windows Commander" is better than anything I've seen. Understand that I've only had a precursory look at Midnight Commander, which bears a striking resemblance to the DOS NC. But, if you're ever on Windows, get a copy of Windows Commander and see the enhancements it has made to the original NC...
