but, if the government decides that you should die, off to the chair or the injection or the gas chamber you go. this is no longer goverment by or for the people, this has become government for the rich and whiny (e.g., lobbyists, corporations, etc.). Death by the means you mentioned is determined by people. A jury of 12 "peers". Those people are not government fat cats and don't really know or care what the president thinks about the matter. The government does not decide whether these people should die by unnatural means, other people do and the government then decides when and where. In some rare events, evidence may be contaminated in favor of the prosecution, but for the most part, I have faith in the criminal justice system of my country. If the government wants a man to die, he will be asassinated, and you'll never be sure who was really responsible for his death.
